White Noise

At once hilarious and horrifying, lyrical and absurd, ordinary and apocalyptic, White Noise dramatizes a contemporary American family’s attempts to deal with the mundane conflicts of everyday life while grappling with the universal mysteries of love, death, and the possibility of happiness in an uncertain world. The latest work from 3-time Academy Award® nominee Noah Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale, Frances Ha, Marriage Story), White Noise is adapted from the acclaimed 1985 novel by Don DeLillo that won the U.S. National Book Award for Fiction. It was the Opening Night Film at this year’s Venice Film Festival, and stars Adam Driver, Greta Gerwig, and Don Cheadle.

2022, 136 minutes, Rated R, Directed by Noah Baumbach

  • “[An] ambitious, thrilling and necessarily messy adaptation...”

    – Barry Hertz, GLOBE AND MAIL
  • “It’s a joy in fact, a surreal, very funny, rather prescient account of family, academia, death and supermarkets.”

    – Demetrios Matheou, THE ARTS DESK
  • “Visually inventive, wryly satirical…”

    – Lee Marshall, SCREEN INTERNATIONAL
  • “I would have thought this Don DeLillo book was unfilmable until I just saw Noah Baumbach pull it off.”

    – Amy Nicholson, FILM WEEK (KPCC-NPR LOS ANGELES)
  • “Edgier and more expressionistic than anything we’ve seen from a director whose commercial sensibility can sometimes border on cautious, ‘White Noise’ is a markedly ambitious, even wacky movie…”

    – Adam Solomons, AWARDS WATCH
  • “5 Stars! Terrifically stylish…a blackly comic blast. It is such a fascinating, invigorating spectacle."

    – Peter Bradshaw, THE GUARDIAN
