Brian Wilson Tribute Film!

A bold and deeply affecting portrait of Beach Boys genius Brian Wilson, told through two interwoven timelines. Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood) portrays the young, tortured prodigy during the 1960s Pet Sounds era, while John Cusack (Say Anything) plays an older Wilson in the 1980s, battling mental illness and under the controversial care of Dr. Eugene Landy (Paul Giamatti). Directed by Bill Pohlad, Love & Mercy avoids the clichés of typical music biopics, offering instead an acclaimed, intimate, empathetic exploration of creativity, vulnerability, and healing—set to one of the most iconic soundtracks in American music history.

Brian Wilson (1942 – 2025) was the visionary genius behind The Beach Boys’ iconic sound—a composer, producer, and arranger whose lush harmonies and studio wizardry redefined American pop music. The mastermind of Pet Sounds Wilson fused teenage surf culture with wall-of-sound ambition, pushing the boundaries of what a pop record could be. Though his career was marked by profound personal challenges, his influence is immeasurable, earning him status as one of the most groundbreaking artists of the 20th century.  Join us as we celebrate the life and times of an American original.

2014, 121 minutes, US, Directed by Bill Pohlad, Rated PG-13
