In Fabric
One Week Only!
A lonely woman (Marianne Jean-Baptiste), recently separated from her husband, visits a bewitching London department store in search of a dress that will transform her life. She’s fitted with a perfectly flattering, artery-red gown—which, in time, will come to unleash a malevolent curse and unstoppable evil, threatening everyone who comes into its path.
From acclaimed horror director Peter Strickland (the singular auteur behind the sumptuous sadomasochistic romance The Duke of Burgundy and auditory gaillo-homage Berberian Sound Studio) comes a truly nightmarish film, at turns frightening, seductive, and darkly humorous. Channeling voyeuristic fantasies of high fashion and bloodshed, In Fabric is Strickland’s most twisted and brilliantly original vision yet.
2018, UK, 118 minutes, Rated R, Directed by Peter Strickland
-
“This horror comedy... is both a colourful homage to vintage 1970s and 1980s horror, but also a brilliant dark comedy that is hilarious and disturbing in equal measure.”
– Lewis Knight, DAILY MIRROR (UK) -
“Totally twisted, super stylish, and frequently funny, the new fetishistic nightmare-dream from Peter Strickland is a loving recreation of Euro-horror and giallo tropes of the past.”
– Chris Evangelista, SLASHFILM -
“The conceit (killer couture!) is only as good as its context, and this is where ‘In Fabric’ excels.”
– Keith Uhlich, HOLLYWOOD REPORTER -
“Another off-the-wall movie from exquisite English filmmaker Peter Strickland that's also, at times, batshit crazy.”
– Rodrigo Perez, THE PLAYLIST -
“A movie of ravishing colors and textures that ultimately elevates style and sensuality into something genuinely meaningful.”
– Justin Chang, LOS ANGELES TIMES -
“What does come across brilliantly at all times is how well he understands cinema and what he's doing. The film is in turns creepy, sensual, gory, and laugh out loud funny.”
– Robert Martin, STARBURST
