    40th Anniversary!

Celebrating 40-years of Enzian Theater, each month we will highlight a classic film from 1985 to illustrate the lasting impact of the films of the era and the legacy of Central Florida’s only non-profit arthouse movie theater.  Thank you for being part of our 4-decade contribution to arts culture in Orlando.

Teenage Lane Meyer (John Cusack, Say Anything) has a crush on his girlfriend Beth Truss (Amanda Weiss, A Nightmare on Elm Street). When Beth dumps him for successful skier Roy Stalin (Aaron Dozier), he is depressed and decides to commit suicide, but he gives up and tries to improve his skiing skills to ski the dangerous K12 slope to impress Beth. Meanwhile his neighbor Mrs. Smith receives a French exchange student, Monique Junot (Diane Franklin, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure), whom her fat son Ricky Smith considers his girlfriend–and she develops a crush on Lane. When Lane stumbles upon Monique at a high-school party, he befriends her. Lane challenges Roy in a competition on the K12 slope. He soon regrets it, but Monique is a great mechanic and skier; she fixes his Camaro and teaches him how to ski the K12 slope. What will happen to Lane?

1985, 97 minutes, USA, Directed by Savage Steve Holland, Rated PG

    • Thank you to our 40th anniversary sponsors!
    • “The story features enough weirdo side characters, hot French exchange students, absurd gags, CLAYMATION, and zany heart to elevate it beyond teen movie cliche. It's essential viewing.”

      – Jas Keimig, THE STRANGER
    • “Forget Citizen Kane. As a matter of history, this seminal film is unquestionably the finest work of cinema ever made. Required viewing for all students and fans of the art form.”

      – Carlo Cavagna, ABOUTFILM.COM
    • “I've rarely met anyone who didn't secretly love it passionately.”
