The one question still remains, how much more art can we take?
40 Years of F–kin’ Up is the definitive, no-holds-barred story of legendary punk rock institution NOFX. The film traces the band's unlikely rise from a group of reckless, drug-fueled teenage misfits in 1980s Los Angeles to becoming one of the most successful independent bands in music history, all without ever signing to a major label.
Drawing from four decades of archival footage, backstage mayhem, candid interviews, and footage from the band's 2024 farewell tour, the film explores NOFX's chaotic journey through punk rock fame, addiction, self-destruction, creative triumphs, and the complicated friendships that held the band together for more than forty years. Along the way, frontman Fat Mike, guitarist Eric Melvin, drummer Erik “Smelly” Sandin, and guitarist Aaron “El Hefe” Abeyta confront the personal costs of a lifetime spent living by punk's DIY ethos.
