The Nice Guys:
10th Anniversary!
“You're the world's worst detectives.”
Screenwriter Shane Black is obsessed with the Christmas season, having set six of his scripts either entirely or periodically during the holiday …and we are here for it. From Lethal Weapon to The Long Kiss Goodnight, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang to Iron Man 3, it’s time to celebrate another Shane Black Christmas with a 10th anniversary screening of The Nice Guys!
As a fun bookend to our 1970s Saturday Matinee Classic screening of The Long Goodbye, we bring you: The Nice Guys; a 1970s-set action comedy featuring private detectives, questionable decision-making, spectacularly bad luck, and a who’s who of guest appearances (Keith David, Kim Basinger, Matt Bomer, Angourie Rice, and more).
It’s got mystery. It’s got action. It’s got comedy. It’s got a man falling through a window because doors are so passé. It’s got Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe as rugged (and sometimes bumbling) private investigators. It’s even got Margaret Qualley half a decade before anyone knew who she was!
Come watch two unqualified yet strangely skilled professionals stumble their way toward the truth in one of the funniest, messiest, most gloriously chaotic movies around…and don’t miss the Christmas ending!
2016, 116 Minutes, USA, Directed by Shane Black, Rated R, Digital
“The Nice Guys is a major blast, Crowe and Gosling having the time of their lives bringing all this madcap, blood-splattered lunacy to life.”
– Sara Michelle Fetters, MOVIEFREAK.COM
“Quick on its wits and fast with its fists, this is Black firmly back doing what he does best. And nobody out there does it better.”
– James White, EMPIRE MAGAZINE
“Black has a potent weapon in Gosling, who's at his zaniest here, his moist eyes and drooping moustache evoking the 1990s Nicolas Cage.”
– Jake Wilson, THE AGE
“The Nice Guys is the perfect, incredibly crafted yet laid-back procedural we've been starved for.”
– Tomris Laffly, TIME OUT
