Screening as part of the 26th Annual Central Florida Jewish Film Festival!
Tamás, an aging and stubborn boxing coach, gets along well with everyone but his own Orthodox Jewish son. Estranged since Iván became religious and moved to Israel, there had been no reason to mend their severed relationship. Tamás has lived happily in Hungary with his beloved wife, Zsuzsa, but when she dies unexpectedly, Iván resurfaces and insists on a proper shiva. Reluctant to accept, Tamás realizes it may be his only opportunity to meet his grandson, Ariel. Over the course of the week of mourning, past conflicts resurface, and father and son embark on an unexpected journey of self-reflection and reconciliation, while the boy deals with his own grief and obsession that grandma’s spirit is still in the house. Winner of the FIPRESCI Prize at the 2024 Sofia International Film Festival, this heartwarming dramatic comedy is set in contemporary Budapest.
