“Walk into a Dream”: The Films of David Lynch
“Film exists because we can go and have experiences that would be pretty dangerous or strange for us in real life. We can go into a room and walk into a dream. If we didn’t want to upset anyone, we would make films about sewing, but even that could be dangerous.”  – David Lynch

David Lynch’s art taps into a deep human fascination with the surreal and the psychological. His talent for transforming the everyday into something eerie, for weaving emotion into his strange landscapes, and for exposing the darker side of suburban life resonates universally, connecting with audiences across cultures and generations in ways few filmmakers achieve.

From teenagers to octogenarians, Lynch’s fanbase spans generations. His loss will leave an irreplaceable gap in the world of cinema. We invite you to join us in celebrating the life, legacy, boundless imagination, and singular voice of David Lynch.

Blue Velvet:

4k Restoration!

There’s something going on behind the white picket fences of Lumberton, North Carolina. And after stumbling upon a severed human ear in a field, mystery-loving college student Jeffrey Beaumont (Kyle MacLachlan) is determined to find out what. Teaming up with the daughter of a local police detective, Jeffrey’s investigation leads him into a strange world of sensuality and violence, with the intrigue of the missing ear seemingly stemming from the relationship between a troubled nightclub singer (Isabella Rossellini) and a sociopathic sadomasochist (Dennis Hopper).

1986, 121 minutes, USA, Directed by David Lynch, Rated R

  • “The last real earthquake to hit cinema was David Lynch's "Blue Velvet" -- I'm sure directors throughout the film world felt the earth move beneath their feet and couldn't sleep the night of their first encounter with it back in 1986.”

    – Guy Maddin (Director)
  • “The most brilliantly disturbing film ever to have its roots in small-town American life.”

    – Sheila Benson, LOS ANGELES TIMES
  • “As fascinating as it is freakish. It confirms Mr. Lynch's stature as an innovator, a superb technician, and someone best not encountered in a dark alley.”

    – Janet Maslin, THE NEW YORK TIMES
  • “Lynch and his film will surely be reviled, but as an experiment in expanding cinema's dramatic and technical vocabulary, Blue Velvet demands respect.”

    – Richard Corliss, TIME
