I HEARD YOUR EXPANDING. IS THAT TRUE?
Yes. It’s true and we couldn’t be more excited!
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS? TELL ME MORE.
We’re adding two new screens and a lobby, and bathrooms and a kitchen to support them. This will enable us to dramatically expand our programming while maintaining the experience our patrons know and love. The new theaters, seating 80 and 50, will be smaller than the existing auditorium. They will have Enzian-style seating and the same atmosphere. WHY? We are bursting at the seams. We are currently forced to turn away community partners because we don’t have enough available screen time. Our programming has increased dramatically in the last five years. We’re up to 305 different films and events per year, which is about 50% more programming than just five years ago!
HOW WILL THE EXPANSION AFFECT YOUR PROGRAMMING?
We can offer more, better, and more diverse programming. With three screens, we’ll have triple the calendar space to schedule films and festivals with cultural partners. Movies that are wildly popular and held over can be moved to smaller theaters so new features can be shown in a larger theater. We will be able to bring extraordinary smaller films that we cannot currently squeeze in. We will have more bargaining power with distributors to attain higher profile independent and foreign films.
WHEN WILL YOU START? WHEN WILL YOU BE FINISHED?
We hope to break ground by the end of the year and expect the project to take about a year to complete.
WILL YOU CLOSE DURING CONSTRUCTION?
Since we will not be changing Eden Bar, the original lobby, or the existing auditorium, we hope to remain open during expansion with very little, if any, disruption to our patrons.
WHAT ABOUT PARKING?
We will enhance our existing parking to provide more handicapped parking and offer affordable and convenient valet services. We have started using valet during busy nights and weekends and are excited to see positive results.
WILL THE EXPANSION IMPROVE ACCESSIBILITY FOR DISABLED PEOPLE? Significantly. From the parking lot to the ticket booth to the theaters, this expansion will increase accessibility for people with disabilities.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
The expansion will cost about $6 million.
HOW IS IT BEING FUNDED?
We aim to raise the money from the community and our patrons. We have raised almost 78% of the funds needed.
I LOVE ENZIAN SO MUCH AND I DON’T WANT IT TO CHANGE. WILL IT LOOK OR FEEL DIFFERENT?
We are committed to maintaining the Enzian you know and love. Think of this expansion as an opportunity to get more of what you love. The Old Florida oasis in front of the theater, Eden Bar, the historic marquee, and the existing auditorium will remain just as they are, with the entrance to a new lobby and all three theaters just peeking around one corner.
BUT YOU JUST GAVE THE EXISTING AUDITORIUM A FACELIFT! WHAT ABOUT ALL THAT WORK AND MONEY?
The current theater won’t change, though you will enter it from the new lobby. Now that the existing theater is freshened up for our patrons, we know we can move forward with an expansion without disrupting your experience in the existing space.
WHAT ABOUT THE FOOD?
We will be enhancing the food service and expect wait times for food to shorten. You will be able to dine in all three theaters and there will be a new lobby bar and food counter. Eden Bar will have its own kitchen – which means that if you drop in for lunch or dinner you can expect faster service.
