The Artist

10 Academy Award Nominations, including Best Picture, Actor, Director, Original Screenplay, and Supporting Actress!

Hollywood, 1927: As silent movie star George Valentin wonders if the arrival of talking pictures will cause him to fade into oblivion, he sparks with Peppy Miller, a young dancer set for a big break.

France, 2011, Silent, 100 min, Rated PG-13, Directed by Michel Hazanavicius

“Dazzling…Literally the kind of movie they just don’t make anymore, Michel Hazanavicius’ French-sponsored charmer THE ARTIST is a gorgeous black-and-white love letter to silent Hollywood.”

– Lou Lumenick

NEW YORK POST

“A glorious throwback…THE ARTIST is the wonder of the age, as much a miracle as ‘Avatar’.  It combines delightful humor and charm with what movies at their best have always conveyed: the honest power of pure emotion.”

– Kenneth Turan

LOS ANGELES TIMES

“**** (4 Stars) Enchanting.  THE ARTIST has an utterly beguiling purity.  Dujardin and Bejo are mesmerizing, both masters of physical comedy with exquisitely expressive faces.  An inventive, visually eloquent, and joyously intoxicating celebration of movies.”

– Claudia Puig

I dunno. What’s the point?  Why don’t you just see an actual movie from the 1920s?

It’s your last week to experience THE ARTIST at Enzian, and you see for yourself why this film in nominated for 10 Academy Awards.

Phenomenal movie. I highly recommend seeing it in a place like the enzian. With all of the dribble coming out of Hollywood silent movies like this might make a comeback .
