Produced by Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan (LAGAAN), Anusha Rizvi’s debut feature, PEEPLI LIVE, audaciously takes as its central subject the tragic rash of farmer suicides that has plagued rural India for the past decade and turns it into an incisive and very funny satire about the social absurdities afflicting the country.  An unexpectedly irreverent and bittersweet work that’s as fresh and intelligent as a Hindi Frank Capra classic.
